London BiFete - Have your cake and eat it!

Rainbow coloured bunting

All flavours welcome (provided you're bi-friendly!)

Saturday September 28th, 2 - 8pm

BiFete is a friendly, sociable celebration of Bi Visibility Day!

Cost: we'll be asking for a suggested donation of £3 towards venue costs - more if you can afford it, less if you can't.

Venue: The Brixton Community Base, Brixton St Vincent's Community Centre, Talma Road, London SW2 1AS. It's not far from Brixton station, in a quiet residential area.

We've got the lower hall, which comes with toilets including a disabled toilet plus a small kitchen. We may have a small separate space but this isn't confirmed yet. The venue has step-free access.

Here's what we have planned already, but you'll need to come along on the day to see what else we have in store!

  • handmade crafts and toys from Hanna's Stuff
  • a craft corner
  • massage from Sol
  • a children's play corner
  • jewellery from Deadly Glamour
  • a raffle
  • a big Bi Fundraising Stall
  • queer fortune telling
  • stalls from UNISON and GALOP
  • crafts, jewellery and more from Purlpirate
  • free tea, coffee, squash and biscuits
  • a group picnic tea at 6pm. (Bring your own food - Brixton Village is a five minute walk away. The venue allows alcohol.)
  • ...and to be confirmed: readings and other performances.

We're also pleased to announce that artist John Lee Bird has donated a beautiful queer painting for our raffle!

Plus the promotion of the bi community's projects, artworks, goods and services - if you've got something you want to promote, come and tell us about it! Bring a poster, bring business cards, bring artwork, or just come and talk to people about it. (It doesn't have to be sexuality-related.) We'd like to have roving activists spreading information about what they're passionate about.

We'd like to encourage people to bring jumble to donate, games, cake, and anything else that seems appropriate.

Please note that this is a family-friendly event so any items brought should bear that in mind.

The front entrance of the Brixton Community Base has a couple of steps, but there is wheelchair access round the back. We may have to keep the accessible entrance on the latch, but if you come to the front we'll see you and can let you in.

The kitchen is a bit small to be wheelchair-accessible but the rest of the ground floor is, and there's a disabled toilet.

If you'd like to book a stall for selling anything, it's £10 flat rate for as much of the event as you like. We have limited space, so please contact us early.

If you'd like to get involved or have any queries, please email bifete2012 at gmail.com .

Hope to see you there!
